How are you dealing with the issue of students using Mac and a VLAB option for using Pro?
Karen Beardsley
23:34
I have a question about ArcGIS online permissions and ArcGIS Pro licensing. I have former GIS students who are volunteering for Yolo Food Bank. Wondering how the licensing will work between UC Davis and the Yolo County Food Bank, I can ask more clearly verbally.

How can we support students with limited access to WiFi/poor connectivity?
Curtis Price
25:44
We have been successful assigning students that need ArcGIS, Envi, etc to a lab computer that is currently sitting idle, using WIn 10 Remote Desktop.
Curtis Price
27:11
Thank goodness we have a laptop program so most students took their university set up computers when they went home.

Good question Anneka. We will address that in just a minute.

Have they been able to use OneDrive to share data?

We have been contacted by High School instructors who are doing AGO, but the students lack connectivity and they are in a rural community, but inner cities might have the same connectivity issues. Anyone have suggestions for these high school teachers.

Regarding using Pro, some students report that commands are not accessible (the are grayed out) when running simple procedures, such as exporting a subset.
Chris Baynard
34:55
And on some where it does work, of the copy command opening, Feature class to feature class opens.
Chris Baynard
35:21
The only solution here appears to save selection as a new layer file. Anyone having these issues?
Curtis Price
35:49
Chris, that's what Pro does, right click layer > export opens the feature class to feature class (unlike arcmap, which opens a wizard)
Curtis Price
36:12
(in Pro everything is a tool)

We have determined that having GPU is really important for a good desktop experience.

I am a huge fan of Esri academy I have been using it a lot even before we were forced to go online. I like that you can get reports to see who has started and completed items, including watching videos!

Hello. Thanks for holding office hours. My class has been inspired by all the COVID resources on ArcGIS Online. Would you please point me to resources on how to use hosted layers in ArcGIS Online to create a COVID tracking tool for cities my area. It's a big, three-part question-- I'd like to find resources to learn how to: 1. Set-up a layer to update immediately once the Google Sheet data is updated? 2. Have a layer update automatically based on data from a website (requires Python, I assume)? 3. Track daily cases by city (perhaps as a video) over some weeks.

I have been using the Lessons Gallery with success. Thank you.

I have used learning plans myself just to organize what courses I want them to take for a class, like a favorite list.

I created the dashboard here. But I uploaded directly from Google Sheets so have to login daily to update the google sheet. https://chapman.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/dcdb91759dfe404390e7d0109da65f99

I've created this hub-- the template is great and easy-to-use, thank you. If my institution wants to use this on our institution's page, how can we do that (so it is accessible through our .edu page)?
